"All Star Comics"

Uniqlo men t-shirt, Zara denim shorts, Monki handcuff, DIY tote bag and Muji socks

Hey world, I am still alive! I did not update this blog for nearly 10 days.

I picked up this graphic t-shirt from Uniqlo and it is from UT x DC Comics series. I have been interested in this UT series. Last week I went to Uniqlo and they were doing sale. Without doubt I could not resist not to buy one. I brought it in M size. I really like its light grey colour, vivid print and the baggy look.

Aged buildings

_MG_1903  This type of old buildings is very common in Hong Kong, esp. in the old districts. It is quite interesting to see how regular their patterns are. But I guess for the residents these building are not interesting for residing.

/

Draw on my tote bag

By far I am a tote-bag-lover. In this post I am going to share you my opinions and how I diy them and it is super-easy to do.

/

z
Things you need
Plain tote bag, paper, pencil, brushes and acrylic paint/water-resistent marker pen.
( You may notice that one of the brushes in the photo is a chinese-writing brush. It helps me to draw some detailed stuff. )

/

b
Tote bag
All the plain linen tote bags I used are brought from Muji. Frankly they are not the best. The linen is quite thin so you can see the picture on the other side vaguely. After used for a several times it becomes rather old and shabby. It also cannot bear heavy-weighted stuff. I used to sew them by myself. The pro is that I can choose the thickness of the linen and add a liner which allows the bag becomes much endurable. But it was quite time-consuming, esp. I sew at a sluggish pace.

v
How
1. Draft on a piece of paper.
2. Put the draft into the bag and trace the line of the draft on the tote bag with a pencil.(as shown in the left photo)
3. Colour what you have traced with acrylic paint/water-resistent marker pen.(as shown in the right photo)
4. Finish! (Super-easy, right?)

Notice: You can just do your drawing directly on the tote bag without steps 1&2 but errors are more likely to happen!

/

如何

c
Water-resistent marker pen vs Acrylic paint
The left tote bag is done by water-resistent marker pen while the right one is by acrylic paint. I prefer acrylic paint over the marker pen although marker pen is much easier to deal with and cheaper. Reasons are simple:
1. acrylic is water-durable after drying like the marker pen
2. marker pen's colour is paler as you can see
3. acrylic is much less easier to be worn-off
4. the ink of the marker pen disperse upon drawing on fabric but acrylic do not

Therefore I recommend you to draw your tote bag with acrylic paint.
(I always think there might be a type of pen specific for drawing on fabric but I cannot find. I also believe in this world there must be other paints existed more suitable for drawing on fabric! )

Finally
The above opinions are concluded from my around-2-months experience. Hope you find this tutorial useful! If you make one, feel free to send me a picture! Leave me a comment if you have any questions about this tutorial!

Pleat and denim and black

1 H&M hat, Monki sleeveless shirt, Zara denim shorts, Dr. Martens shoes and DIY tote bag

The weather is quite changeable in Hong Kong lately. Sometimes it is cloudy and rains cats and dogs but sometimes it is full of sunshine and is stuffy and hot.

This outfit is purely made of my favorite colours: white, blue and black. In summer, a pair of shorts is surely an essential item in summer. But I always wear this pair to everywhere because they seem to match with everything and I really like its blue. Hope you have not gotten bored of it yet as more to come!

The tote bag shown in these pictures is under progress right now. As you can see another side is still empty so far.

Pablo Picasso

_MG_1827
I went to Hong Kong Heritage Museum to see the exhibition called "PICASSO – Masterpieces from Musée National Picasso, Paris". In total 56 original works of Picasso are showcased. So far and by far, it is the most comprehensive exhibition showing Picasso's pieces in Hong Kong. If you are interested, be prepared that there will be a lot of people inside the exhibition area.

It is undoubtedly an eye-opening opportunity. I have known the name of "Picasso" since I was still a child. All the things I knew are he is a great and influential artist, the representative of surrealism and his surreal paintings are crazy. Beside that I never tried to know more about him. The exhibition shows his paintings, sculptures and photos. He did not confine himself to only one style. This makes his works more diverse. I am not someone who can really appreciate art and reading the brochure is surely not enough to understand the pieces. Sometimes I try to "eavesdrop" what the docent of the other visitors said. If only I have a docent explaining me those profound and surreal works or there were some annotations next to each pieces like "Made In Britain -- Contemporary Art Exhibition".

When typing this passage I feel more excited. Because the memories are kept on recalling. I feel like I have a really interesting lesson -- never confine yourself to a style.

p. s. The full name of Picasso is crazy -- Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. Oh my god! Much longer that Albus Dumbledore.  Or maybe it is normal in Spain?

The men's sneakers

_MG_0722
Adidas sneakers and Muji striped socks

I brought a pair of sneakers during Adidas sale. They are from a line called Gazelle. I do not take a liking to most of the sports shoes. I like its brown, blue and white combination. At that moment I felt regretted that they are actually for men and the smallest size available was 40 as normally my shoe size is 39. But when I tried them on they were just fit especially with socks. I guess men shoe size 40 is similar to women shoe size 39.

Later I went to Muji and found this pair of striped socks. They look so good together.

/

ARTHK12

_MG_12387
I previously went to Hong Kong Art Fair 2012. I completely forgot to jot down the name of the artists. Originally I expected to make credits to the artworks' photos I post here. I have tried to search their names on the internet but I found nothing, except one.

/

Epic! At first glance I thought those naked bodies of dead animals lying on the mountain of salt were real. When watching closely I discovered they were all plastic. Soon I saw their skin vibrating slowly like breathing. ( Later I noticed a real little spider crawling on the salt. This one is spine-chilling. )

/

This one is very interesting. Looking at it from different perspectives you can different things -- people or acrylic.

_MG_1311
_MG_1316 _MG_1331 _MG_1264 The only artwork that I can find the name of its creator ( Zhang Wang, Universe 28, 2012 ) is where I photoed myself...
